U.S. Route 75

U.S. Route 75 (US 75) is a north–south highway that stretches from the Gulf Coast of Texas to the Twin Cities region in Minnesota. Though once part of a longer route extending into Canada, today’s US 75 begins in Dallas, Texas, and terminates in Noyes, Minnesota, near the Canadian border. Along the way, it serves as a key corridor through Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa—connecting rural communities with larger metro areas like Tulsa, Omaha, and Sioux City.

The route plays a major role in regional commerce and mobility. In Texas, it begins as the Central Expressway, a major thoroughfare through Dallas, before transitioning into a more traditional highway as it continues northward. Through Oklahoma and Kansas, US 75 remains an important route for agricultural and industrial transport, often paralleling or intersecting major interstates such as I-40 and I-35. As it moves into Nebraska and Iowa, the highway becomes more rural, but still supports the economic fabric of smaller cities and towns along its path.

In Minnesota, US 75 is known as the “King of Trails Scenic Byway” for its historical role as part of an early 20th-century auto trail. The highway traverses open farmland and prairies, offering a peaceful and scenic alternative to faster interstates. Though some sections have been decommissioned or replaced by I-29 over the years, US 75 remains a vital artery for travelers seeking a deeper connection to the heartland of America.
