Drive America’s Highways for 4 miles north along Interstate 11 (formerly US-95) from Interstate 15 to Jones Boulevard in Las Vegas, Nevada.
We begin our short but busy journey by merging onto Interstate 11 from Interstate 15 near downtown Las Vegas. Almost immediately, we encounter the complex interchange with Business US-95, also known locally as North Rancho Drive. As we continue westward, the urban sprawl of Las Vegas surrounds us, with exits leading to community streets likeValley View Boulevard. Despite the density, the freeway flows smoothly beneath overpasses and signage that reflect the city’s continuous development.
Just a few minutes later, we reach Exit 80 for Jones Boulevard, where we bring this drive to a close. Though this may seem like an ordinary urban freeway segment, its designation marks an important shift in Nevada’s infrastructure: this portion of highway was officially redesignated as Interstate 11 on December 9, 2022, replacing its previous identity as part of U.S. Route 95. This change is part of a broader vision to connect Las Vegas and Phoenix with a continuous interstate-grade highway, finally linking two of the largest U.S. metro areas previously unconnected by an Interstate.
