Mississippi Highway 475, better known to locals as Airport Road, serves as a vital north-south connector in the Jackson metro area. This short but highly functional route begins in Flowood at the intersection with MS-468 and travels southward to U.S. Highway 80, threading past the Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport. In this drive, we experience both directions of MS-475, starting and ending at the MS-468 junction for a complete loop of this key corridor.

Starting our journey southbound from Flowood, the roadway is surrounded by a mix of suburban development and light commercial zones. The area is part of the growing Rankin County corridor, and Airport Road carries a steady flow of commuters, business travelers, and logistics traffic. Just a couple of miles into the drive, we reach the entrance to the Jackson International Airport. While not the largest airport in the region, it plays an essential role in central Mississippi’s connectivity and gives this highway its nickname. Travelers heading to or from flights will appreciate how easily MS-475 links the airport with major regional roads like MS-468 and US-80.

After passing the airport complex, the highway continues just a bit farther before reaching its southern terminus at U.S. Highway 80. The return trip offers a good look at some of the recent commercial development happening along the corridor, especially near the northern end around Flowood.
