Missouri State Route 76: Cape Fair to Reeds Spring

Looking for a quick but scenic drive in the Missouri Ozarks? Traveling east on Missouri State Route 76 from Cape Fair to Reeds Spring is a fantastic way to experience both small-town charm and some classic Table Rock Lake scenery—all in under 10 miles.

We kick things off in Cape Fair, a little lakeside town that’s popular with boaters and anglers thanks to its spot right on Table Rock Lake. Route 76 intersects with Missouri State Route 173 just a block or two from the waterfront, and that’s our starting point. As we roll out of town, the road meanders south for a brief stretch before curving eastward. Almost immediately, we’re treated to a drive across Table Rock Lake—a highlight for anyone who enjoys water views. Depending on the time of year, you might spot fishing boats out on the water or see the trees along the shoreline coming alive with spring blooms or fall color.

Once across the lake, the route climbs gently into the wooded hills typical of the region. This part of the Ozarks is all about winding roads, rolling forested ridges, and quiet hollows. If you’ve got time to spare, there are a few recreation areas along the lake you could explore, especially on the Cape Fair side. As you head east, you’re surrounded by dense woods that are home to all sorts of wildlife—keep an eye out for deer, especially in the early morning or late afternoon.

About halfway to Reeds Spring, you’ll pass near a couple of side roads that lead toward the Mark Twain National Forest and even some lesser-known access points to Table Rock Lake. While the main drag of Route 76 is a steady eastbound ride, these little detours can be a great way to explore more of the region’s natural beauty. Even if you stick to the highway, the rolling terrain and wooded backdrop make this stretch feel tucked away from the bustle of Branson to the east.

As you enter Reeds Spring, you’ll notice the Ozark hills give way to a small-town vibe. The road ends at the intersection with Missouri State Route 413, putting you right in the heart of town. From here, you’re only a short drive to Branson West or Silver Dollar City if you’re looking for more entertainment or adventure. But even if you’re just passing through, this quick drive is a great snapshot of what makes this corner of Missouri special—lush forests, sparkling lake views, and that laid-back Ozark atmosphere.
