Arkansas Highway 107 offers a scenic and surprisingly diverse drive through both urban sprawl and quiet countryside as it stretches roughly 29 miles from North Little Rock to Vilonia. This north-south route gives us a great chance to see how the terrain transitions from suburban density to open farmland, making it an excellent pick for those who enjoy both accessibility and natural charm on a single trip.
We begin our journey in the heart of North Little Rock, right at the junction with Interstate 40. The highway starts off as John F. Kennedy Boulevard, a busy arterial road that cuts through some of the city’s more developed neighborhoods. As we make our way north into Sherwood and Gravel Ridge, we see clusters of shops, neighborhoods, and local parks—especially around the intersections with East Kiehl Avenue and Brockington Road. This section is four lanes wide, with a mix of traffic lights and turning lanes to help manage local flow. While not rural yet, this stretch gives us a good look at how Central Arkansas suburbs have grown in recent decades.
Leaving the Pulaski County suburbs behind, AR-107 narrows to a two-lane road as we pass through Macon and head north into Faulkner County. The change in landscape is immediate—dense neighborhoods give way to forested areas and rolling farmland. Small lakes and ponds occasionally dot the roadside, providing scenic breaks from the open pastures. The town of Otto is one of the few marked communities in this stretch, though it’s more of a dot on the map than a traditional town. Still, the rural charm and light traffic make this portion of the route particularly enjoyable, especially for those who appreciate a more relaxed, pastoral drive.
The final stretch brings us into Vilonia, a town that blends small-town atmosphere with steady development. AR-107 becomes Main Street here, and you’ll notice more local traffic as the highway winds past schools, churches, and a mix of chain and family-owned restaurants. Vilonia offers several good options to stop and stretch your legs or grab a bite—popular local stops include a couple of diners and barbecue joints that cater to travelers and residents alike. The drive concludes at the intersection with US Highway 64 on the west side of Vilonia, a gateway to continue east toward Conway or west toward Beebe and beyond.
Whether you’re exploring on a weekend afternoon or commuting between towns, Arkansas Highway 107 has something to offer. The variety of scenery—from city streets to farmland views—and the low-stress driving conditions make it a pleasant route year-round. If you’re looking to experience the edge where metropolitan convenience meets rural charm, this is a route worth adding to your list.
